Summer German Courses at the Alinguas Language School Munich
Come to Germany to find friends from all over the world! The Summer Vacation Course at the Alinguas Language School in Munich is exactly right for this. Here young women and men (from age 14) meet students from all over the world who are motivated to learn German, to take part in sports and excursions, and/or to venture out on their own.
- The courses run from June to September.
- Our groups are small (6 to a maximum of 14 participants) and filled with international students.
- The intensive German language courses last from 9:30 a.m. until 1:00 p.m., with a half-hour break at 11:00 a.m.
- In the afternoons we organize various activities for our Summer Course participants, as well as visits to sporting or cultural events. In this way the afternoons offer additional benefits in building mutual acquaintances and in scouting out the surroundings.
Diverse activities are available: e.g., visiting interesting sites in Munich and its environs (the Deutsches Museum, Nymphenburg Castle, Herrenchiemsee Palace, salt mines in Bad Reichenhall, Neuschwanstein Castle, etc.); grilling in the evening along the Isar River; cooking together in the Alinguas kitchen; viewing movies in the afternoon; taking weekend trips; even attending sports events (such as the Audi Cup in the Allianz Arena); and attending the famous Munich Oktoberfest.
Through all these activities we guarantee good individual care through our school administrators, our teachers, and our assistants. In the Summer German Course our students expand their knowledge of German rapidly thanks to our extensive, interactive lessons. This ideal blending of study and discovery is not only exciting, it makes for a lot of fun. Our Summer German Course program offers the learning of German in its most attractive form. The placement test, the weekly tests, and the Certificate of Participation are of course all included in the charges for the Summer German Course.

The First Day
The first day in our language school starts (for everyone who is not a complete beginner) with a fifteen-minute diagnostic placement test. Depending on the test results, our participants will be divided into the appropriate groups. Grammar, vocabulary, pronunciation, reading- and listening-comprehension will be taught and practiced in systematically constructed lessons. Instruction through “learning by doing,” communication and speaking games, sidewalk interviews, as well as group- and partner-activities are important parts of our teaching.
After a short mid-day break, we resume in the inner city. A tramp through the pedestrian zone in Munich might include Marienplatz, the City Hall, the Food Market, Odeonsplatz, eating ice cream in the gardens of the Royal Residence, and so forth. But it will also include practical tips, for example how to get around in the Munich bus, tram, subway, and suburban train system, or where to go for good shopping. We offer not simply effective teaching toward a higher level, but also care that each student feels well and fully satisfied. The Alinguas team will always keep an ear open for your requests and wishes.
Accommodation
Types of accommodation are just as various. Whether you prefer to live with a host family, or in a student residence or a hotel, we will support your request. Living with good host families makes fast language acquisition possible, and such “total immersion” is especially suitable for younger students. Often these families have children of the same age; in these our students can practically become family members, participating in normal family life. Close ties may result, and many come back to visit every year.
